Tickle me Chrissy
admin : November 28th, 2013

The first day of Summer also heralds the last YDM of the year. As the jingle of Christmas bells fill the air, so do the designs displayed at our festive fashionable fair. Whether you are seeking out some surprises for your secret Santa, treasures for under the tree or wonderful wrapping to present the perfect pressie – originality is the optimal option at the origin of merriment.
This is the time of year where connecting with loved ones is essential and a priority is sending cards of cheer-whether far or near.
Tickled Pink Cards offer a beautiful range of meticulously designed and handcrafted papergoods. They have expanded to accessories, vintage fabric bags and baby bloomers and applique singlets. We talk turkey with owner/creator, Natalie Green and get jolly ahead of the YDM on Sunday December 1.
Whether you write your love in a short sentence or a longwinded recap of the highlights of your year, you can be assured that your well wishes will sit in full view during the season – often kept as a memento for years to come.

Why are you looking forward to the next Young Designers Market?
I love the YDM and all the lovely customers that come every month to visit us all, it’s a great way to spend a lovely Sunday-strolling the lovely designer and finding exciting new handmade goodies to buy!!

How do you prepare for a day at the Young Designers Market?
I always pack and organise myself the day/night before the YDM that way all I have to do is get up and head to the markets for a fab day NO stress!!!

How did your business begin?
TPC began in March 2006 I started out scrapbooking as a hobby and loved the results from this. My lovely family and friends through their support I started to believe in my product and decided to test the markets and see if anyone would purchase my TPC goodies. To my amazement my first ever market was a success and from there onwards and upwards. My TPC range started from the humble greeting card and swing tag and grew into adorable hair accessories and beautiful fabric purses and bags. 2013 saw the release of my TPC children/infant clothing range that extends from Frilly bloomers and signature birdie singlets as well as t-shirts and adorable fabric skirts!!!

What can you offer that others can’t?
TPC goodies are all one of pieces, as no 2 pieces will ever be the same. TPC can also custom make for our lovely TPC customers with choice of fabric to offer and style and finish…

The staple of the collection are the unique handmade cards; from post cards, to swing tags, boxed sets and greeting cards. A lovely canvas for words. Adorable accessories, from clips to pins and much-loved, requested vintage fabric bags The handmade bags vary from purses, to large, versatile carry-alls, stylish clutches, make-up bags and more. Each piece is crafted with much love, quality and attention to detail. The most recent addition to TPC is the much sort after TPC Frilly baby bloomer and signature birdie/star applique singlets!!!

When did you realize you wanted to become a designer and small business owner?
This really all just fell into place, from a natural progression turning a hobby into a business! I realized that there was a need for lovely bespoke stationery and now my children’s line and I am finding now days my TPC customers are always searching for unique and handmade which the YDM always offers!!!

What was the first thing you ever made?

The first thing I ever made was a pair of shorts when I was 13 years old girl on summer vacation with my mum-she taught me how to sew and that’s where it all began!

How long does it usually take you to create your products?
All products vary I time to make due to type of product being made. From start to finish for nay one product may be from 30mins to 4hours!

What are some of your accomplishments?

This year TPC Clothing range was lucky enough to be selected by the Governor General-Quentin Bryce to send a lovely Gift Box full of TPC goodies to “Baby George”…Knowing that my TPC range was sent over as part of the Baby Gift was truly a humbling feeling…

How long have you been a stallholder?
I have been very lucky to be part of the YDM for the past 3-4 years and love them so much so well organized and always a fabulous day had by us all!

Where do you buy your materials / fabrics / products to create your work?
Tickled Pink sources fabrics, papers, laces  and other embellishments from America and japan and local, loves getting different pieces that can’t be found too easily here in AUS…I do like to support local where I can but sometimes we need to have a point of difference and overseas gives me a lot more choice!

What are your favourite materials to work with and why?
I adore fabrics and spend way too much time sourcing and searching for new fabrics. Also adore beautiful papers and always on the look out for some new goodies…

What are your favourite colours?
So I have to say PINK due to my business name, but adore  beautiful reds and greens and  anything else that I source that you can’t find just anywhere…Love colour!!!

What are your favourite patterns or prints?

Where do you get your design inspiration?
I am always searching etsy and pinterest for inspiration and love anything creative…

How would you define your personal style or taste?

This is a hard question because I adore and love so many styles. I love vintage, retro, modern and shabby chihc, I guess the beauty is I can pull all of these designs together to create a fabulous TPC one of design!!!

What do you like best about what you do?

I can create what I love to do and the best thing is that someone ends up purchasing your TPC goodies and that is the best feeling ever!!!

What do you dislike about what you do?
I never have a day off, I always feel I should be sewing or making something new to add to my collection, but still love it at the same time!!!

Have you had other experience in an associated industry?

I have worked in retail for a few years and before that was a flight attendant for 8 years and hairdressing for 13 years. So always in an area that I’m dealing with lovely people and in areas that I have been able to be creative in!!!

What are some of your business goals?
My goals for the new year is to grow my wholesale side and see my TPC product range grow…I only want my TPC range in lovely boutique stores that love local and hand made products…
