The Young Designers Market is a feel good place, with fun and funky happening everywhere you look. We’re so pleased that Maree Davidson has joined us from The Collective Markets, bringing her delightful art and eye catching stall with her!
We asked Maree where she draws her inspiration from (‘scuse the pun!), to which she replied:
“I have personally met a lot of the animals I have painted over the years. I interact with them, and get to know their personalities, which I then create into a painting – whether that be a fine art piece, or a quirky character I’ve been commissioned to paint. I also love painting animals in close-up poses, which can have a more contemporary look.”
You’ll love Maree’s original art as much as we do, so why not pop down to Young Designers Market this Sunday to meet the artist! Click “Read More” to find out more about Maree and see more great artwork.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How did your business begin?
Maree Davidson was born and raised in Ashgrove, Brisbane. After completing studies and spending many years as an art teacher, Maree became a full-time professional artist in 2003. She is famous for her fine art, as well as her lifelike and humorous ‘quirky’ animal art. Maree and her husband Peter enjoy working together as a team on their art business. Peter is a printer framer and runs the business side of things, and Maree focuses on her artwork as well as providing artwork for art exhibitions, galleries and the like.
Where do you get your design inspiration?
Being an animal and nature lover, Maree’s inspiration comes directly from the subjects that she paints. Maree says, “I have personally met a lot of the animals I have painted over the years. I interact with them, and get to know their personalities, which I then create into a painting – whether that be a fine art piece, or a quirky character I’ve been commissioned to paint. I also love painting animals in close-up poses, which can have a more contemporary look.”
What can you offer that others can’t?
Maree has a remarkable talent to capture her subjects in a contemporary realism style. Her quirky animal characters are made up straight out of her imagination, and are truly unique. Maree’s husband Peter is an expert printer framer whose quality skills showcase Maree’s art, and allow for specialised custom orders and options.
